Ladies, let’s ditch the outdated notion of “aging gracefully” and embrace something far more vibrant: aging fabulously! Because life after 50 isn’t about fading into the background; it’s about stepping into grace and owning our power. It’s about discovering new passions, deepening our relationships, and celebrating the wisdom and strength that come with time.
And Sherice Brown, wife of NFL legend Tim Brown, is the perfect example of a woman who is absolutely radiating in her 50s. She’s a force of nature, a woman of unwavering faith, a devoted mother, a successful entrepreneur, and a champion for women. Her story, as she generously shared it with me for Our Radiant Path blog, is one of fortitude, grace, and an unwavering commitment to living a life filled with purpose and passion.
A Challenging Start: Finding Strength in Faith
Sherice’s journey began with a profound hardship that no child should ever endure. As a young girl, she was sexually abused by a family member, a betrayal that left deep emotional scars. The trauma was compounded by the way her family, in an attempt to protect their image, chose to “keep it in the family” rather than confront the abuser and seek help. This silence, as many of us know, can often leave victims feeling isolated and ashamed.
Yet, even in those darkest moments, when fear and confusion threatened to overwhelm her, Sherice found solace in prayer. She recalls a tiny voice whispering comfort and strength, a divine presence offering solace in the midst of her pain. This was the genesis of her profound relationship with God, a relationship that would become her guiding light through life’s ups and downs.
“I know God is real,” Sherice affirms, reflecting on the solace she found in prayer as a child. “He has been sovereign, He has been right there the whole time guiding me through the path.”
This unwavering faith became her anchor, her source of fortitude. It empowered her to forgive her abuser, a testament to her incredible strength and capacity for healing. It also ignited a passion within her to help others, to use her experiences to inspire and uplift those who have walked a similar path. Sherice’s story is a powerful reminder that even in the face of unimaginable adversity, faith can provide the strength to overcome and emerge even stronger.
A Divine Meeting: A Love Story for the Ages
Sherice’s faith wasn’t just a source of strength during challenging times; it was also the guiding force that led her to the love of her life. Her romance with NFL Hall of Famer Tim Brown is a beautiful example of divine intervention, a love story that unfolded with a touch of destiny.
But before their paths crossed, God was quietly preparing Sherice’s heart. He knew the wounds she carried, the insecurities that lingered from her childhood trauma. He knew she needed a man who would cherish her, protect her, and love her unconditionally. And in Tim Brown, He found the perfect match.
Meanwhile, their mutual friend, the late Chester McGlockton, became an unwitting instrument in God’s plan. He repeatedly told Tim that he had “met his wife” long before they even knew each other. Imagine Tim’s surprise when he finally laid eyes on Sherice at Chester’s wedding and felt an instant connection.
“That was all God,” Sherice shares, her voice filled with gratitude. “God brought us together at that time.” Their whirlwind romance, fueled by deep conversations and a shared faith, led to marriage within eleven months. 27 years later, their love story continues to inspire. It’s a reminder that sometimes, love finds us when we least expect it, in ways we could never have imagined.
The Four Pillars of a Fabulous Life: Faith, Family, Fashion, and a Fierce Commitment to Wellness
Sherice’s life is beautifully interwoven with four essential threads: faith, family, fashion, and fitness. Each one complements the others, creating a vibrant picture of a woman living her best life.
We’ve already explored the profound impact of her faith. But equally important is her family, her source of unconditional love and unwavering support. It’s the bond with her husband, children, and extended family that brings joy and meaning to her life.
And who doesn’t love a little fashion inspiration? For Sherice, fashion is a creative outlet, a way to express her vibrant personality and unique sense of style.
But it’s the fourth pillar, fitness, that truly sets Sherice apart. This isn’t just about looking good; it’s about honoring her body and taking charge of her health. This passion stems from a deep personal loss and a desire to break free from a troubling family health history.
Sherice witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. The passing of her grandmother due to complications from diabetes was a profound loss that deeply affected her. Later, she lost her beloved brother to a sudden heart attack, and her mother now battles with atrial fibrillation (afib). These experiences fueled her desire to educate and empower others, especially within the African American community.
“We don’t have to be defined by the stereotypes of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiac disease,” she declares, her voice filled with passion. She became a nutritionist and personal trainer, not to chase profits, but to share her knowledge and encourage others to prioritize their health.
Thriving Beyond 50: Body, Mind, and Spirit
Sherice’s commitment to fitness and wellness is an integral part of her philosophy of thriving beyond midlife. She understands the unique challenges women face as they age, particularly during menopause.
“Strength training, pilates, taking a walk – it doesn’t have to be intense, but it has to be consistent,” she advises. Sherice’s own health scare with SVT (Supraventricular tachycardia) reinforced the importance of listening to her body and prioritizing self-care.
But thriving beyond midlife is about more than just physical health; it’s about mental and emotional well-being too. For Sherice, this means nurturing her relationship with God, setting boundaries, and learning to “Let Go and Let God.” It’s about finding that inner peace and balance that allows us to truly flourish.
Sisterhood: The Power of Connection, Compassion, and Couture
Sherice’s dedication to supporting women extends far beyond her family. She is a co-founder of Off the Field NFL Wives Association, a non-profit organization that has become a beacon of empowerment and sisterhood. This incredible organization is dedicated to uplifting women, fostering meaningful connections, and making a tangible difference in their communities.
“It’s about the sisterhood,” Sherice explains, her voice filled with warmth. “It’s about having a support system, being secret keepers, and rallying together during difficult times.”
This sisterhood is built on a foundation of shared experiences, understanding, and unwavering support. These women, who often face unique challenges as the wives of professional athletes, find solace and strength in each other’s company. They celebrate victories together, offer comfort during setbacks, and provide a safe space for vulnerability and authenticity.
And let’s not forget the fashion! Off the Field’s annual fashion show in the Super Bowl host city is a highlight of their fundraising efforts, a dazzling display of style and sisterhood. This event not only raises crucial funds for the organization’s charitable initiatives but also showcases the beauty, confidence, and camaraderie of these remarkable women.

She’s determined to use her voice to uplift and empower others, offering hope and inspiration to those who may be facing their own battles.
In Sherice’s own words, “We all have a divine plan. God has called us all to walk in our purpose…Walk in that grace, be who God has called us to be, and be fabulous doing it.”
So, ladies, let’s step boldly into this next chapter of our lives. Let’s nurture our spiritual connection, prioritize our well-being, celebrate our individuality, and cultivate meaningful relationships. Let’s embrace our authentic selves and shine brightly in all that we do.
